For this project I will be creating a 4 minute and 33 second long composition in honor of John Cage’s famous 4’33 piece. The meaning behind Cage’s 4’33 is the concept of all sounds being a form of music. His piece contains no typical “instruments” and encourages audience members to listen to the sounds of the environment surrounding them and to take that into account as the song. To do this I will be using the sound files provided by myself and my classmates. I will be editing the song using Adobe Audition and the skills I learned from the lab. Some things I am hoping to include are using the pan feature to pan from the right pan to the left, “M” for mute, “S” for muting all other tracks (stereo), “R” for recording, the razor blade tool to cut tracks up and delete if I want, creating fades either in or out by selecting a single track by itself and grabbing little boxes to pull it in or out, creating loops by right-clicking on a sound and dragging it however long I want, adding single clip effects and full track effects one being the hip hop loop, clicking and dragging to change the order of the effects, putting clips backward by double clicking and opening it in wave form then hitting effects and reverse, using the weaponized effect, and after all that is done I will save the file by hitting file, export, multitrack mix down, entire session, changing the location to my desktop, changing the wave into an MP3, compressing a separate audio lab folder, and uploading it to SoundCloud.
