About J's Art

Welcome to J's Digital Art Site! I first became interested in digital art when I was interning for my mom as a Junior in high school. She works as an interior designer and I quickly became interested in the potential routes that graphic design and digital art could lead me down. Since then, I have continued to study art in order to gain a general knowledge across all mediums. Some of my favorites include woodworking, painting, and film. I make art in order to express myself. I often find that when I struggle identifying my feelings an emotions the only way for me to "organize" these thoughts is to dump them onto a canvas in whatever messy fashion I like. The key to my personal self expression is not caring what others think. A lot of people tend to discredit the more abstract artists and while I have great respect for those who are masters of realism, that will never be my avenue of choice. When I create abstract work I feel most at peace and the pressure is off. It is the best reflection of my head and imagination. My biggest inspiration at the moment is Clifford Still. I had the pleasure of seeing his work at the Denver Art Museum last summer and felt like there was something about his work that I could see myself in. Pictured to the right is one of my favorite projects I made last semester as well as a gift I painted my mom for Christmas, and a few other photos I enjoyed taking. Thank you for learning a bit about me and I hope you enjoy!
